Aldi Blames Loyalty Coupon Apps for Higher Prices
German discount retailer Aldi (both Nord and Süd) says that loyalty‑program apps and coupon systems make shopping harder and create price inequality. The chain argues that customers who do not use the apps are forced to pay more for the same products.
Citing the "Loyalty Report Germany 2026", Aldi notes that such programs can lead to unnecessary purchases and price differences of up to 30 %. Aldi operates over 400 stores in Poland as well as throughout Germany and plans to challenge the use of these apps at checkout.
