Aldi discontinues Swiss delivery service and launches new seasonal retail offers

Aldi is undergoing various operational and strategic shifts across its different regional branches. In Switzerland, Aldi Schweiz is discontinuing its 'Aldi Now' delivery service in several cities, including Bern, Geneva, Basel, and Luzern, by the end of August. The company cited high costs associated with 'last mile' delivery and a strategic decision to refocus on its core discount model.

In Germany, Aldi Süd is launching new seasonal promotions starting late August, featuring kitchenware, household items, and garden lighting at low price points. These include Crofton brand products and Casalux solar lamps.

Historical and operational insights also highlight the structural differences between Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, which operate as legally separate entities. While Aldi Süd focuses on retail promotions, the broader corporate history includes discussions regarding the company's private foundation structures and past controversies involving working conditions and surveillance.
