Aldi expands presence in Spain and implements food waste discounts

Aldi is expanding its retail footprint in Spain with the opening of a new 1,000-square-meter supermarket in Torrent, Valencia, scheduled for October 23. This new location marks the company's second store in the municipality and its 27th in the province of Valencia. The store aims to provide competitive pricing, noting that its model can help families save over 2,400 euros annually on groceries.

Separately, the supermarket chain continues its corporate strategy to reduce food waste by offering a 30% discount on specific products approaching their best-before dates. This initiative covers various categories, including fresh meat, fish, dairy, frozen foods, bakery items, and pantry staples. According to company data, this system has prevented the waste of over 6,893 tons of food.
