Aldi and Lidl engage in price competition over groceries and household goods

Major discount retailers Aldi and Lidl are engaging in a price competition across several product categories. In Germany, both chains have implemented permanent price reductions on private-label orange juices and nectars. Lidl has lowered prices for its Solevita brand, while Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd have reduced prices for their Rio d'Oro brand. Other grocery items seeing price cuts include nuts and various household paper products like toilet paper and kitchen towels.

Beyond groceries, both retailers are launching seasonal promotions. Aldi Süd is introducing autumn deals starting August 31, featuring household items, kitchenware, and small LEGO sets priced at 2.99 Euro. Lidl is also promoting garden and tool equipment through its Parkside brand, including cordless hedge trimmers, lawnmowers, and various pruning tools. In the United Kingdom, Lidl is offering a range of Parkside gardening accessories with additional discounts available for Lidl Plus members.
