Aldi launches new August items as UK shoppers cite comparable prices at Marks & Spencer
In August 2026 Aldi rolled out a range of new private‑label grocery items in its U.S. stores, such as Beef Birria Bites, Peanut Butter & Grape Filled Crêpes, three new gelato flavors, pumpkin‑spice waffles and mini coffee cakes. The retailer frames the launches as affordable alternatives to national brands and part of its ongoing expansion of more than 180 new U.S. locations this year.
At the same time, a consumer in the United Kingdom reported that prices at the premium retailer Marks & Spencer were frequently on par with Aldi's, noting similar costs for cabbage, mushrooms, bread and other everyday staples. The observation suggests that Aldi's reputation as the cheapest supermarket may be narrowing in certain market segments.
