REWE Bierschinken recalled in Germany for missing mustard allergen label
The REWE‑brand “Bierschinken” (100 g) with best‑before date 26 June 2026, batch 20260609, was found to carry an incorrect back‑of‑pack label. The label displayed information for a “Römerbraten” and omitted the mustard (senf) ingredient, which is a recognized allergen.
Fleisch‑ und Wurstwaren Schmalkalden GmbH Thüringen has initiated a voluntary recall. The affected products were sold in REWE stores in the German states of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony‑Anhalt. Consumers are advised not to eat the product and can return it to any participating store for a full refund, even without a receipt. The company states the dip itself is safe; the issue lies solely in the missing allergen declaration, which could trigger reactions in mustard‑allergic individuals.
All recalled items have been removed from shelves, and the manufacturer is offering a free exchange for any customers who still hold the product.
