Aldi Nord tops German discount rankings as Aldi Talk rolls out new data‑SIM tariffs
A recent consumer survey commissioned by Wirtschaftswoche placed Lidl and Aldi Nord at the top of Germany’s favourite discount retailers, with both scoring above 2,200 evaluated firms. Aldi Nord reported a 7.4 % revenue increase to over €31 billion, outpacing the overall German grocery market, while Lidl posted €132 billion in sales, contributing the bulk of the Schwarz Group’s €175.4 billion turnover. The same survey saw Amazon tumble from third place to 237th amid criticism of its Prime Video service.
In a separate development, Aldi Talk introduced new prepaid data‑SIM offers available exclusively online. For a one‑time €9.99 fee, customers receive the SIM and can choose between the Home & Go S plan (150 GB for €19.99 per four weeks) or the Home & Go L plan (300 GB for €29.99 per four weeks). The packages provide up to 100 Mbit/s speeds, require no contract, and target users seeking flexible, mobile internet without traditional DSL installations.
