Aldi potentially eyeing second Maine location in South Paris

Rumors suggest the German grocery chain Aldi may be preparing to open its second location in Maine. The potential site is the former Save-A-Lot store in South Paris, which closed earlier this year due to declining revenue and increased costs.

While unconfirmed, reports indicate work has been ongoing at the South Paris site. The same plaza is also expected to host a new Taco Bell location, replacing an abandoned plan for a Wendy's.

This potential move aligns with Aldi's broader US expansion strategy. Following the successful opening of its Portland, Maine, location in March, the company aims to open 180 new stores in 2026 and an additional 400 locations by the end of 2028 to increase its market share.
