Aldi reduces prices on select products by up to 30 percent

Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd have implemented permanent price reductions of up to 30 percent on various products, including juices, nuts, and household paper, as part of an intensified price competition with Lidl.

The discount retail landscape in Germany is dominated by the rivalry between Aldi and Lidl. While Aldi operates as two separate entities, Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd, Lidl is part of the Schwarz Group. Historically, Aldi pioneered the discount concept with a reduced assortment, whereas Lidl entered the market in the 1970s and has focused heavily on brand marketing.

The Aldi empire was founded by brothers Theo and Karl Albrecht, who expanded their family business from a small shop in Essen-Schonnebeck into a global retail force. The company structure utilizes family foundations to manage assets and inheritance taxes.
