Aldi UK to close all stores on Boxing Day

Aldi has announced that all of its UK stores will close on Boxing Day this year to allow staff to spend time with family and friends following the busy festive period. The retailer will also be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

According to the company, stores will reopen on 27 December after the Christmas closure and on 2 January 2027 following the New Year’s Day closure. While opening hours will vary locally in the days leading up to Christmas, many locations plan to extend their hours to accommodate customer needs.

Rachel Geary, Communications Director at Aldi UK, stated that closing on Boxing Day is a way to thank colleagues for their hard work during one of the busiest times of the year, providing them a chance to rest and switch off.
