Aldo Pavia, Holocaust historian and ANED leader, dies
Aldo Pavia, a prominent historian and leader within the National Association of Former Deportees in Nazi Concentration Camps (ANED), has passed away. Pavia served as the National Vice President of ANED and was the Honorary President of its Rome section.
Recognized as a leading expert on the Italian Shoah and the history of deportation, Pavia was noted for combining rigorous documentary research with effective public education. He was particularly active in documenting the 1944 roundup in the Quadraro district of Rome, working to preserve the memory of those deported during the Nazi occupation.
His work often involved organizing educational initiatives for students and conducting 'Memory Travels' to European extermination and concentration camps to ensure historical transmission to younger generations.
