Aldosivi eliminates River from Copa Argentina 2026
Aldosivi defeated River Plate 3‑1 in the round of 16 of the 2026 Copa Argentina at the Padre Ernesto Martearena stadium in Salta. Tomás Fernández opened the scoring at 11 minutes and added a second at 56 minutes, while Nicolás Cordero made it 2‑0 at 29 minutes. River’s consolation came from Rafael Santos Borré in the 86th minute, but the loss ended River’s campaign and sent Aldosivi to the quarter‑finals, where they will meet Independiente Rivadavia of Mendoza.
The match was coached by Israel Damonte for Aldosivi and Eduardo Coudet for River. Coudet later described the performance as a “paperón” and pledged to improve the team’s play.
