A trailer has been released for ‘The Trial of Alec Baldwin’, a new documentary directed by Rory Kennedy that examines the aftermath of the 2021 fatal shooting on the set of the film ‘Rust’. The film provides an intimate look at actor Alec Baldwin’s life during the legal proceedings following the accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The documentary traces the trajectory from the initial tragedy to Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial in New Mexico. The legal case was dismissed in July 2024 after a judge ruled that prosecutors had withheld evidence from the defense. ‘The Trial of Alec Baldwin’ is scheduled for a limited release in Los Angeles on October 1, 2026, followed by a nationwide theatrical release in the United States on October 16, 2026.
