Alejandra Figueroa promotes photography contest for State of Mexico youth
Alejandra Figueroa Adame, a deputy presiding over the Youth and Sports Legislative Commission of the State of Mexico, promoted the ‘Raíces mexiquenses’ photography contest. Held in coordination with the International Youth Politics (PJI) organization of the State of Mexico, the event aimed to provide young people with artistic and cultural spaces to express their identity and regional roots.
During the awards ceremony at the Institute of Legislative Studies (Inesle), Figueroa Adame highlighted the three-fold value of photography: preserving memory, informing and generating political critique, and transmitting emotions through art. The contest encouraged participants to explore themes such as urban areas, rural landscapes, factory workers, historical constructions, and natural landmarks like the Xinantécatl volcano.
Emiliano Ibarra Montes, state president of PJI, noted that youth from indigenous communities are actively working to preserve their traditions and roots.
