Alejandro Amenábar discusses ‘Tesis’ 30th anniversary
Director Alejandro Amenábar appeared on the television program ‘El Hormiguero’ to discuss the 30th anniversary of his debut film, ‘Tesis’. The film, which is scheduled for a theatrical re-release this November, originally won seven Goya Awards.
During the appearance, Amenábar shared anecdotes regarding the film's production and his early career. He revealed that a scene involving a person jumping onto subway tracks was inspired by a real-life event he witnessed on the Madrid Metro. He noted that the distinction between those who looked and those who were advised not to look served as a perfect metaphor for the film.
Amenábar also recounted a humorous incident from the night of the Goya Awards. Because the team had not planned a celebration, they improvised at a venue in Malasaña, leaving their awards on shelves among drinks. He discovered the next morning that one of his trophies had been lost, only to have it recovered after two young people found it in a trash container and returned it to his home.
