Alejandro Amenábar honored at Sitges Film Festival
Director Alejandro Amenábar was honored with the Méliès Career Award at the Sitges Film Festival in recognition of his cinematic trajectory. During the event, Amenábar presented a restored 4K version of his directorial debut, ‘Tesis’, to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
The restored version features updated sound mixing to match the original 1996 essence and has been corrected to its original filming speed. Amenábar was joined by actor Eduardo Noriega for the presentation. The director expressed his hope to present his upcoming mystery film at the festival in the future.
‘Tesis’, which follows a student investigating audiovisual violence, originally won seven Goya Awards and established Amenábar as a significant figure in international genre cinema. The restored version is scheduled for theatrical release on November 19.
