Alejandro Awada recounts his father's 2001 kidnapping

Argentine actor Alejandro Awada shared details regarding the 2001 kidnapping of his father, Abraham Awada, during an appearance on the television program ‘PH: Podemos Hablar’.

Abraham Awada, a textile businessman, was abducted on August 20, 2001, while returning from the San Andrés Golf Club. The kidnappers held him for approximately one week in Boulogne and demanded a ransom of $300,000. The actor noted that the perpetrators likely targeted his father due to perceived connections to former President Carlos Saúl Menem.

Awada revealed that the family attempted to deliver the ransom money on three separate occasions. He personally participated in one of the early attempts, which failed due to an error regarding the delivery location. Following a third attempt involving a professional negotiator, the ransom was received and his father was released.
