Alejandro Balde faces uncertain future at FC Barcelona

Alejandro Balde is facing a difficult period at FC Barcelona after choosing to stay with the club this summer despite interest from Premier League sides including Manchester United, Benfica, and Aston Villa. The 22-year-old left-back has yet to play a single minute this season, as manager Hansi Flick has prioritized other options in the rotation.

Balde has fallen behind in the hierarchy due to the presence of Joao Cancelo and the rapid rise of 19-year-old academy graduate Xavi Espart. While sporting director Deco has denied internal conflict, reports suggest Balde may reconsider his future during the January transfer window if he does not secure regular playing time.

Separately, Barcelona leadership is reportedly looking toward the long term, with Cesc Fàbregas identified as a potential candidate to succeed Hansi Flick when his contract expires in 2028.
