Alejandro Baldé faces uncertain future at FC Barcelona

Alejandro Baldé faces a challenging period at FC Barcelona after failing to secure a starting position this season. Despite his decision to remain with the club during the summer transfer window, the 22-year-old left-back has yet to play a match under manager Hansi Flick.

Baldé’s lack of playing time is due to competition from Joao Cancelo and the rising form of 19-year-old La Masia graduate Xavi Espart. Espart has notably started Barcelona’s first four La Liga matches and has provided two assists.

During the summer, Manchester United reportedly expressed interest in Baldé, engaging in preliminary talks with his representative, Jorge Mendes. While United sought a loan deal with an option to buy, the move did not materialize because of financial complexities and Baldé’s desire to stay at his boyhood club. However, reports suggest that if Baldé does not see increased playing time, he may reconsider his future during the January transfer window.
