Alejandro Balde faces competition for Barcelona left-back role

Alejandro Balde is facing intense competition for the left-back position at FC Barcelona. After being a regular last season, the 22-year-old has struggled to secure minutes under manager Hansi Flick due to the unexpected rise of Xavi Espart. Flick noted that while the situation is not ideal for Balde, the competition is a result of the high level required for the team.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has defended the player, stating that Balde remains a key part of the club's future and must fight for his place. Balde recently saw limited action, appearing for 12 minutes in a LaLiga match against Racing Santander.

Due to his reduced playing time, Manchester United has reportedly maintained interest in the Spaniard. The English club is seeking long-term cover for Luke Shaw and may look to rekindle their pursuit of Balde during the upcoming January transfer window.
