Alejandro Fernández W. recognized for banking supervision legacy

The Association of Savings and Loan Banks and Credit Corporations (ABANCORD) has recognized the work of Alejandro Fernández W. as he concludes his six-year term as Superintendent of Banks of the Dominican Republic on August 16.

ABANCORD highlighted that Fernández’s tenure was marked by institutional strengthening and the modernization of banking supervision processes. The association specifically praised his commitment to maintaining open communication channels with various segments of the financial system, which facilitated the exchange of perspectives and the pursuit of solutions aimed at the stability and sustainable evolution of the Dominican financial sector.

The entity noted that while effective supervision requires technical rigor and independence, Fernández promoted an institutional relationship based on respect, collaboration, and consensus-building without compromising his supervisory responsibilities.
