Alejandro Jiménez challenges PAN expulsion attempt in Ciudad Juárez

Alejandro Jiménez Vargas, a PAN councilman in Ciudad Juárez, has denounced an expulsion process initiated against him by the state president of the PAN, Daniela Álvarez. The disciplinary action follows Jiménez's attendance at a regional report by President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Jiménez argues that his presence at the event was strictly in his official capacity as a councilman and a member of the Citizen Participation Commission, rather than as a partisan act for the Morena party. He contends that attempting to expel him for fulfilling his constitutional and municipal duties demonstrates a lack of understanding regarding electoral legislation and internal party regulations.

In response to the accusations of “treason,” Jiménez criticized Álvarez, describing her leadership as having an “authoritarian and despotic air.” He has publicly called for her resignation, citing her perceived lack of doctrinal and territorial expertise. Furthermore, he criticized the party's recent electoral strategies, suggesting that superficial campaign activities contributed to the PAN's poor results in the 2024 elections.
