Alejandro Mayorkas to Join Harvard Institute of Politics as Fellow

Former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who served from 2021 to 2025 and was impeached by the House in February 2024 (the Senate later dismissed the articles), is expected to become a resident fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this fall. Harvard has not denied the report and will announce its bipartisan slate of fellows later in the summer. As a resident fellow, Mayorkas will lead student study groups, hold office hours and mentor undergraduate students.

The appointment follows reports that other former Biden administration officials, such as Pete Buttigieg and Rohit Chopra, are also slated to join the institute’s fellowship class.
