Alejandro Pidello releases new poetry book using image-text association

Poet Alejandro Pidello has released a new book, ‘La encantada casa victoriosa’, which utilizes a unique method of combining images with text. The work aims to create a living organism through the association of film frames or photographs with poetry.

According to the author and analysis by poet Sonia Scarabelli, the book relies on an optical principle based on Western reading habits, where the eye moves from the left page to the right. In this structure, images such as photographs or film stills are placed on the left, while the poem begins on the right. This setup requires the reader to play an essential role by ‘embedding a rhythm from the text into the image.’

The book is described as a work that challenges traditional reading forms, creating a sense of dislocation or a ‘secret garden’ through its unconventional syntax and visual-verbal relationship.
