Alejandro Sanz songs featured in new musical ‘El alma al aire’

The musical ‘El alma al aire’ has premiered, featuring the songs of Spanish icon Alejandro Sanz. Produced by Stage Entertainment, the company known for ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Aladdin’, the production took four years to develop.

Alejandro Sanz provided two conditions for the project: the story must be set in southern Spain and must not be based on his personal life. The plot is set in a fishing village and follows Ale, a talented young musician, and the impact of Alma, a real estate developer from Madrid, on the local community.

Lead actors Pepe Nufrio and Amanda Digón noted that the musical aims to allow audiences to connect with the songs through a narrative lens. The production features new arrangements of Sanz’s hits, intended to give the music a new dimension within the theatrical plot.
