Alejandro Tosti's caddie reveals reason for walking off course

Cliff Ellis, the caddie for PGA Tour golfer Alejandro Tosti, has revealed the reasons behind his sudden decision to walk off the course during the first round of the Biltmore Championship in Asheville, North Carolina.

During the tournament, Ellis abandoned Tosti at the 18th hole after the golfer had played eight consecutive pars. Tosti was forced to rely on a spectator to carry his bag to complete the round. While Tosti initially joked about the incident on social media, Ellis later explained that the relationship had been strained by “insane” and “ridiculous” occurrences throughout the week.

Ellis cited tensions regarding Tosti’s temperament and financial disagreements. The two had an unorthodox payment arrangement where Ellis received 6% of Tosti’s prize money instead of a dedicated salary, leading to disputes over late payments. Ellis noted that he had frequently dealt with outbursts from the golfer prior to the breaking point.
