Alejandro Zendejas ready for América return after knee surgery

Alejandro Zendejas has announced his readiness to return to action for Club América following an eight-week absence due to knee surgery. The Mexican-American attacker underwent an articular cleaning procedure on his right knee after his call-up to the 2026 World Cup squad, causing him to miss the start of the Apertura 2026 Liga MX season and the Leagues Cup.

Zendejas expressed optimism about playing minutes in the upcoming match against Cruz Azul, noting that while the initial weeks of recovery were slow, he currently feels in good condition. He emphasized that despite playing at the Estadio Azteca, the venue feels like home for the team.

Additionally, Zendejas mentioned that he is still adapting to the tactical approach of coach Guillermo Almada, as he was unable to participate in the team's pre-season training in Spain. He noted that he is observing teammates like Isaías Violante to better understand the coach's requirements and playing style.
