Aleksandar Dimitrov resigns as Bulgaria national football coach

Aleksandar Dimitrov has resigned as the head coach of the Bulgaria national football team following a poor start to the Nations League campaign. The decision comes after the team secured only one point from two matches played in Plovdiv, including a 1-2 loss to Luxembourg and a scoreless draw against Estonia.

Dimitrov cited an inability to implement tactical plans and a breakdown in the relationship between the coach and players as reasons for his departure. He stated, “My plan was not implemented, and we failed to create pressure in the attack. That means I have lost the trust of the players.”

During his tenure, Dimitrov led the team through ten matches, recording three wins, two draws, and five losses. The Bulgarian Football Union now faces pressure to appoint a successor quickly, as the team is scheduled for upcoming away matches against Iceland and Luxembourg.
