Aleksandar Kristić reflects on football career and Red Star Belgrade tenure

Aleksandar Kristić, a former defensive midfielder, reflected on his professional football career, which included playing for Red Star Belgrade and representing the Yugoslavia national team. Born in Valjevo in 1970, Kristić began his journey in Krušik before being scouted by Red Star Belgrade at age 13.

Kristić highlighted key milestones, such as debuting for the Yugoslavia youth selection at Wembley Stadium against England. During his two tenures at Red Star Belgrade, he won two league titles and two national cups. He noted the difficulty of playing for the club and recalled the 1993 Yugoslav Cup victory as a significant moment in his career.

His career also involved playing during periods of international sanctions and competing in numerous ‘Eternal Derbies’ against Partizan Belgrade. Following his time at Red Star, he played for other clubs before eventually transitioning into coaching.
