Aleksandar Nešović Baja Killed in Belgrade Restaurant 27 Shooting

DNA analysis confirmed that Aleksandar Nešović Baja was dead after being hit by at least ten bullets in the evening of 12 May at Restaurant 27 in Belgrade. The autopsy report showed more than half of the projectiles recovered from his body, and police have collected the bullets for forensic testing to determine whether they were fired from one or several weapons. Witnesses, including three women present in the restaurant, described hearing gunfire and seeing a man with a gun pass by their table before the shooting.

Investigators have detained a number of suspects, among them former Belgrade police chief Veselin Milić, several of his bodyguards, and Saša Vuković Boske, who is alleged to have fired the fatal shots. The case has revived interest in Nešović’s past, including his 2000 escape from a Zurich prison after a dental‑clinic transfer. The ongoing probe focuses on whether the meeting, intended as a reconciliation between rival factions, turned into a planned killing.
