Serbian President Vučić backed by rally in North Macedonia's Kumanevo

Hundreds of citizens gathered in Kumanevo, North Macedonia, in front of the Serbian consulate for a rally organized by the Association of Serbs "Peace, Unity, Stability". Participants, primarily from the local Serbian community with some Macedonian supporters, waved Serbian and Macedonian flags, played music from both cultures and displayed banners such as "Kumanevo and Skopje stand with Vučić" and the slogan “Srbija победува”. Milena Veličković, a spokesperson for the association, said the event was meant to show support for President Aleksandar Vučić’s policies and the development of Serbia, stressing that the message was not an interference in Macedonian internal affairs. The rally proceeded under police protection without incidents.

The gathering took place while Belgrade was experiencing large‑scale student protests over the November 2024 Novi Sad railway station shooting that killed 16 people. Demonstrators are demanding Vučić’s resignation and early parliamentary elections, leading to a suspension of railway services across Serbia. The Kumanevo rally was framed as solidarity with Serbia amidst these anti‑government demonstrations.
