Aleksandar Vučić dominates Serbian media visibility following resignation
Following Aleksandar Vučić’s resignation as President of Serbia on September 27, 2026, media monitoring data reveals a significant imbalance in political visibility. A study conducted by the Bureau for Social Research (BIRODI) between September 11 and September 30 shows that Vučić accounted for 78% of the total airtime dedicated to political actors across five major television stations: RTS1, Pink, Prva, B92, and Hepi.
When combined with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), political visibility reached approximately 90.5%. In contrast, the Studentska Lista received only about 6% of the total coverage. On the public broadcaster RTS1, Vučić’s presence was 35 times greater than that of the Studentska Lista. BIRODI noted that these figures measure visibility rather than the quality or tone of the reporting.
Vučić, who handed presidential duties to Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić, stated his intention to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections on October 25 as an ordinary citizen. The resignation has drawn diverse public reactions, ranging from intense emotional support to political debate.
