Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić attended the inaugural Carpathian Initiative summit in Huta, Ukraine, at the invitation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. The new regional format includes Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary, aiming to strengthen economic, transport, and security cooperation.

During the summit, Vučić met with Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss regional stability and infrastructure. Vučić also discussed the construction of a highway between Belgrade and Timișoara with Romanian officials.

In a separate development, Vučić announced the opening of a new factory in Serbia for assembling Israeli-made 'Lanius' drones. This move is part of a broader 'digital army' concept intended to bolster Serbia's defense capabilities and deterrence. Vučić noted that trade between Serbia and Ukraine has already increased by 42 percent this year.
