Aleksandar Vučić warns of inevitable Third World War

Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has warned that the world is approaching a major military conflict, stating that a Third World War is inevitable due to the rapid rearmament of European nations.

In an interview with Russian journalist Ksenia Sobchak, Vučić highlighted the significant increase in defense spending across Europe, specifically noting the strengthening of military capacities in Scandinavian countries. He cited the German defense company Rheinmetall as an example of the growing military industry, claiming its profits have increased 17-fold due to the heightened demand for weaponry and military equipment.

Vučić compared the current geopolitical climate to Anton Chekhov’s literary principle, where a gun introduced in the first act must eventually fire. He expressed pessimism regarding international security, suggesting that the accumulation of weapons and visible preparations for conflict are signs of an impending large-scale war. While noting that European governments justify increased defense budgets as necessary protection against Russia, Vučić emphasized that diplomacy and negotiations remain essential to prevent further escalation.
