Aleksandar Vučić warns of Serbian demographic crisis

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has warned that the nation faces a demographic crisis, stating that the current natural increase rate of 1.63 per mille is critically low. He emphasized that a rate of 2.2 per mille is necessary for the nation's survival, remarking, “We are dying out as a nation.”

During a campaign tour of the Toplica District, including visits to Blace and Prokuplje, Vučić announced that the state is seeking new measures to encourage childbirth. He noted that the issue is not primarily financial, but rather finding the most effective ways to support those who wish to have more children. He also highlighted the challenge of population decline in specific areas, citing Blace, where the population has dropped from 10,900 to 10,100.

In addition to demographic concerns, the President discussed regional development, including infrastructure needs such as road repairs near the Doja winery and the necessity of attracting investment to create stable employment. He expressed the government's goal of retaining citizens who return from abroad.
