Florida Panthers face major injury setbacks with Barkov and Marchand sidelined
The Florida Panthers are facing significant roster challenges following a series of injuries to key players. Captain Aleksander Barkov is expected to miss six to eight weeks due to a left knee injury sustained against the San Jose Sharks. Fortunately, Barkov will not require surgery and will instead undergo a non-surgical rehabilitation program, with a potential return in late November or early December.
Adding to the team's struggles, veteran forward Brad Marchand sustained a lower-body injury during a game against the Los Angeles Kings. Marchand, who was playing in only his second game after offseason surgery, required assistance off the ice after his left leg appeared to buckle following a collision near the net. The team is awaiting further diagnostic results to determine the severity of his injury.
These absences place additional pressure on the Panthers' depth and salary cap management. The team may utilize long-term injured reserve (LTIR) to gain cap relief, potentially allowing for veteran acquisitions such as free agent Vladimir Tarasenko.
