Aleksander Ceferin criticizes FIFA World Cup project

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has intensified his criticism of FIFA President Gianni Infantino, labeling Infantino’s World Cup project as a greater threat to football than the European Super League.

Ceferin argued that while the Super League was an incorrect attempt by major clubs to create a private league, the FIFA proposal represents the literal selling of the sport. He stated that football belongs to everyone and expressed difficulty in imagining individuals who would sell a sport that is a collective asset.

Ceferin noted that he has not been in contact with Infantino since the proposal emerged and suggested that the FIFA plan lacks support from the wider football community, including fans, players, and coaches.
