Aleksander Sikora faces controversial judging at European Junior Boxing Championships

Polish boxer Aleksander Sikora, representing Street Autonomy Sanok, faced a controversial judging decision during the U19 European Junior Boxing Championships in Loznica, Serbia. Competing in the under 90 kg category, Sikora initially secured a unanimous points victory against Greece's Theofanos Athanasios in the 1/16 finals.

In the 1/8 finals, Sikora faced Germany's Yoan Junior Hernandez. Despite Sikora appearing to control the tempo and activity of the match, judges issued a split decision (3:2) in favor of the German representative. The scoring was notably inconsistent, with one judge awarding all three rounds to the German fighter, while another scored the bout 3:0 in favor of Sikora.

Representatives from the Street Autonomy Sanok club expressed frustration over the discrepancy, noting that such extreme differences in scoring raise questions about human judging. The club suggested that the development of AI in boxing officiating could provide a more objective analysis free from nationality or personal bias.
