Aleksi Ahlfors sets personal best in U20 World 3000m final

Aleksi Ahlfors secured a fifth-place finish in the U20 World Championships 3000 meters final, setting a new personal best of 7:50.56. Despite the high temperature of nearly 30°C, Ahlfors improved his previous record by nearly two seconds.

Emmanuel Kiprono of Kenya won the race with a time of 7:28.28, narrowly missing the age-group world record. Alois Abraham of France took silver (7:47.79), and Ojiro Honda of Japan earned bronze (7:48.49).

In other Finnish results, Linnea Hirvelä and Anni Niskala competed in the 100m hurdles semifinals, finishing 17th and 22nd respectively.
