Alençon: Four youths charged in fatal assault of homeless man

In Alençon, Orne, four young men aged 17 to 25 have been placed under investigation following the death of a homeless man. The victim, approximately 60 years old, was fatally assaulted during the night of Monday to Tuesday.

According to Caen prosecutor Joël Garrigue, the incident occurred after a group had been drinking with the victim. Seeking to retrieve a bottle left with the man, who was using a crutch, one suspect allegedly knocked him to the ground and beat him with the crutch while another filmed the assault. The 21-year-old primary suspect has been placed in pre-trial detention and faces charges of murder of a vulnerable person. The other three individuals face charges of non-assistance to a person in danger and/or failure to report a crime.

In separate incidents in France, a 48-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds at his home in Pernes, Pas-de-Calais. No suspects have been arrested in that case. Additionally, in Tarbes, a 32-year-old man was stabbed twice in the Arsenal district; the assailant fled the scene, but the victim is reported to be in stable condition.
