Alenquer Municipality and Santos & Vale sign road project agreement

The Municipality of Alenquer and the company Santos & Vale have reached an agreement regarding the “Prolongamento da Estrada da Quinta dos Cónegos” road project. The initiative aims to create an alternative route for heavy vehicles to bypass local areas and improve access to the Carregado industrial zone.

The construction of the variant is estimated to cost approximately three million euros and will be executed in two phases. The agreement involves the transfer of land from Santos & Vale, which is necessary for the second phase of the project. In addition to the land transfer, the company has committed to performing ground preparation works, including clearing brush and installing wooden stakes.

The project is currently in the finalization stage and is awaiting necessary authorizations regarding changes to the National Ecological Reserve (REN) and the National Agricultural Reserve (RAN). While the agreement allows the first phase to proceed, opposition members have raised questions regarding the company's specific contributions and the overall management of the construction process.
