Mozambique and Portugal implement humanitarian and economic aid programs
Various humanitarian and economic development initiatives are underway in Mozambique and Portugal. In Mozambique, the Japanese government is providing $1.8 million to the World Food Programme to assist approximately 94,000 displaced persons and conflict-affected individuals in Cabo Delgado through the distribution of rice and canned fish. Additionally, the CARE Mozambique Restore project has exceeded its goals, providing aid to over 200,000 people affected by terrorism in the north and flooding in the south.
To promote economic autonomy, the Mozambican government, supported by the World Bank, is funding 14,400 business projects for young women through the Acredita Emprega program. Each selected project will receive a grant of 100,000 meticais following professional training.
In Portugal, the Alentejo 2030 program is allocating funds for regional development. This includes over 1 million euros for hospital equipment at the Hospital Central do Alentejo to modernize healthcare services, and approximately 3.5 million euros to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in hiring highly qualified personnel to drive innovation and digital transition.
