Alentejo 2030 program allocates €265k for heritage chapel restoration and launches €3 million quarry remediation fund
The Alentejo 2030 regional development programme, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), approved a €265,000 investment to restore the Ermida de São João Baptista da Carrasqueira chapel in Vila Viçosa. The project will repair roofs, drainage, façades and interior finishes, and create an interpretive centre for tourists.
In parallel, the programme issued a new call for proposals with a €3 million budget to fund the environmental rehabilitation of abandoned quarries classified as critical. The competition, named “Passivos Ambientais: Pedreiras em Situação Crítica”, will co‑finance up to 85% of eligible projects and is open to public‑sector bodies for submissions through ten phases ending in May 2027.
