Alentejo boosts tourism with Dutch delegation visit and New York promotion

The Alentejo region in Portugal hosted a Dutch tourism delegation at the Avis Nautical Station on 28‑29 June as part of the “Nautical Alentejo Go International” project. The group visited the Ponte de Sor‑Montargil, Avis and Alandroal stations, the historic centre of Avis, a cork oak forest, local restaurants and a solar‑powered boat ride on the Albufeira do Maranhão, aiming to raise the profile of Alentejo’s nautical tourism in the Netherlands.

In July, the Regional Tourism Promotion Agency of Alentejo organised a two‑day event at Portugal House in New York’s Time Out Market, Brooklyn. The programme featured a presentation by agency president José Manuel Santos, remarks on the Évora_27 European Capital of Culture, a masterclass tasting four Alentejo wines, a gourmet menu by chef Filipe Ramalho and cultural entertainment, targeting both tourism professionals and U.S. consumers to strengthen the region’s presence in the American market.
