Alentejo health unit tenders 1.3M€ for private radiotherapy services
The Unidade Local de Saúde do Alentejo Central (ULSAC) has launched a public tender worth approximately 1.326 million euros to contract external entities for radiotherapy treatments. This measure is intended to serve oncology patients in the Alentejo region while the radiotherapy unit in Évora remains inactive.
Treatments in Évora have been suspended since May 31 due to the replacement of two linear accelerators with new equipment funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). While patients have been redirected to other National Health Service units, ULSAC noted that current capacity is insufficient to stably absorb all regional needs without risking delays in response times.
The contract is expected to last six months and focuses solely on acquiring radiotherapy services. It does not involve the management or exploitation of the existing Évora facility, nor the use of its current staff or resources.
