Alentejo intermunicipal communities launch GDPR training for local officials
Intermunicipal communities in the Alentejo region of Portugal have launched training programs focused on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for local public administration workers.
The Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alto Alentejo (CIMAA) held a session at the Polytechnic University of Portalegre. The training covered legal frameworks in Portugal, the obligations of Data Protection Officers, and the rights of data subjects, aiming to strengthen compliance and transparency within public entities.
Simultaneously, the Comunidade Intermunicipal do Baixo Alentejo (CIMBAL) initiated a seven-hour training program titled ‘Personal Data Protection for Municipalities’. This initiative, aimed at municipal employees, focuses on information security, risk prevention, and the practical application of GDPR principles to support administrative modernization and the decentralization of competencies.
