Portugal's Alentejo 2030 program boosts regional investment by over €50 million
The Alentejo 2030 regional programme announced a competition offering a total of €5.829 million, financed by the European Regional Development Fund, to support sustainable urban mobility projects. The funding is split between €1.278 million for digitalised urban transport solutions and €4.551 million for active mobility such as walking and cycling, aiming to cut carbon emissions, improve air quality and reduce urban noise.
In a separate step, the programme signed addenda to the Contracts for Development and Territorial Cohesion with inter‑municipal communities, raising the overall allocation from €440 million to €446 million. The increase adds €15.5 million for affordable housing via the Just Transition Fund and €24 million for urban water‑cycle investments, representing a €45.5 million (10.3%) boost to public investment in the region.
