Aleppo military court issues verdicts in Syrian Coast case
The Military Criminal Court in Aleppo has issued the first set of verdicts in the legal proceedings regarding the Syrian Coast events that occurred in March 2025. After approximately ten months of hearings, the court delivered rulings for four of the seven defendants in the first group of accused.
Hadi Adnan Qablan was sentenced to death following a conviction for inciting civil war and participating in an armed gang. Tahani Ahmed received a life sentence and deprivation of civil rights, though was acquitted of the charge of inciting strife. Basil Marai Al-Hassan, a member of the Ministry of Defense, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for premeditated murder. Hassan Hulaybiya was acquitted of charges related to inciting strife and forming gangs and was ordered released.
The broader trial involves 14 defendants divided into two groups: seven former regime members and seven members of current government forces and security services. A subsequent session is scheduled for next Thursday to deliver verdicts for the remaining three defendants in this group. Legal observers noted that the proceedings included the presentation of video evidence and technical expert reviews to verify recordings used in the case.
