Aleris expands eye care services in Sweden with six new clinics

Aleris has expanded its eye care services in Sweden by opening six new eye clinics across the Västra Götaland and Stockholm regions. These locations include Bäckefors, Strömstad, and Lysekil, as well as Brommaplan, Farsta, and Nacka. An additional clinic is scheduled to open in Sundbyberg in 2027, which would bring the total number of Aleris eye care locations in Sweden to 17.

The Stockholm clinics are part of a new regional procurement for specialized eye care, with Aleris managing the Northwest and Southeast areas. Services range from basic eye surgery and cataract operations to the management of chronic conditions such as glaucoma and retinal diseases. The expansion also aims to increase opportunities for medical education and research in collaboration with local hospitals.

Concurrently, the National Board for Highly Specialized Care has granted Region Stockholm authorization to provide highly specialized care in three new areas. St Eriks Eye Hospital has been assigned national responsibility for endocrine ophthalmopathy, specifically performing orbital decompression for thyroid-related eye issues. Karolinska University Hospital will handle rare motor disorders, while other specialized mandates include advanced tracheotomy surgery and peripheral airway fistulas.
