Alesp approves bill to transfer CPTM employees following railway strike

The Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) has approved a bill to transfer employees from the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) to other state public agencies. The legislation, proposed by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, was a central demand during a recent railway strike that impacted lines 11-Coral, 12-Safira, and 13-Jade.

The measure aims to provide job security for workers affected by the concession of these lines to the private sector, specifically the Comporte Participações group. The bill also includes provisions for employees on Line 10-Turquesa in the event of future privatization. The project now awaits the governor's sanction. While the strike ended following the agreement, union leaders have indicated that workers remain prepared to resume industrial action if the promised terms are not fully implemented.
