Alessandra Campelo discusses Amazonas election challenges with EU experts

Alessandra Campelo, candidate for vice-governor of Amazonas, met with representatives from the European Union Election Expert Mission to discuss the electoral process in the state. The discussions focused on the logistical difficulties of conducting elections in a territory of continental dimensions, specifically the transport of electronic voting machines to indigenous communities and remote areas.

Campelo also addressed the challenges facing women in politics, noting that the 30% quota for female candidates does not ensure equal opportunity due to male-dominated party leadership and the burden of domestic responsibilities. She reported experiencing political violence of a gender-based nature and emphasized the importance of the Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM) in managing these complexities.
